AMD propose une évolution importante de ses pilotes graphiques avec l’arrivée des Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition. Nous sommes en présence d’une nouvelle branche avec de nouvelles fonctionnalités, des gains de performance et des fonctions désormais accessibles au travers d’un smartphone.
Depuis maintenant deux ans, AMD propose une fois dans l’année une importante évolution de ses pilotes graphiques. Les Radeon Software Crimson ReLive sont désormais remplacés par les Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition.
AMD évoquent une hausse des performances face à ses précédents pilotes. Elle touche plusieurs jeux avec une Radeon RX 480. Les gains peuvent atteindre au maximum les 19%.
Ces pilotes s’accompagnent du Radeon Overlay, une interface utilisateur conçue pour permettre aux joueurs de surveiller leurs performances GPU sans quitter le jeu, d’ajuster leur gameplay à leurs propres préférences tout en restant connecté avec leurs amis.
En parallèle l’application mobile AMD Link débarque sous iOS et Android. Elle se présente comme un complément en proposant un second écran pour surveiller les performances GPU et les informations système du PC.
Des améliorations sont annoncées sur l’existant (Core technologies). Ceci touche le Radeon Chill (prise en charge des API Vulkan et DirectX 9, 10, 11 et 12), WattMan (sauvegarde et partage de profils personnalisés, l’Enhanced Sync (compatibilité améliorée et un champ de vision plus large) ou Radeon ReLive.
Pour revenir sur le Radeon Overlay, l’interface en jeu permet d’ajuster l’expérience de jeu et de surveiller, enregistrer et partager une progression sans quitter le titre. Un accès en un clic est proposé au Radeon ReLive, au moniteur de performance, à Radeon Chill, au Frame Rate Target Control (FRTC) mais aussi aux réglages du FreeSync et aux réglages des couleurs. De son côté l’AMD Link propose un suivi des performances GPU et du PC, un flux d’actualités et des notifications lors de la sortie de nouveaux pilotes
Ces pilotes s’accompagnent également de plusieurs corrections de bugs. La majorité d’entre eux concerne des jeux comme OverWatch, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Mass Effect Andromeda, Forza Horizon 3 et Halo Wars 2.
Il y a également des problèmes connus et non résolus (voir les détails dans la note de version). AMD propose plusieurs archives pour les environnements Windows 7 et Windows 10 en versions 32 et 64-bit.

Resolved Issues
- OverWatch™ may experience a random or intermittent hang on some system configurations.
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Siege may experience an application hang when breaching walls with grenades or explosives.
- Netflix playback in a browser or via UWP application may experience stutter.
- After recording with Radeon ReLive GPU usage and clocks may remain in high states.
- Assassin’s Creed®: Origins may experience bright or saturated lighting in cave missions.
- Mass Effect Andromeda™ may have issues enabling HDR10 on an HDR capable display.
- Forza™ Horizon 3 may experience corruption on rocks or foliage during gameplay.
- Halo™ Wars 2 may experience a crash on game launch.
- Enabling HBCC on Radeon RX Vega in multi GPU system configurations may cause the secondary graphics card to be hidden in Radeon Settings until reboot.
- Resizing the Radeon Settings window may cause the UI to restart or hang with HBCC enabled.
Known Issues
- Upgrading Radeon Software with Radeon RX Vega series graphics products in multi GPU on X99 chipsets may cause system instability after reboot.
- Radeon Settings may experience a hang when enabling AMD CrossFire with three or more graphics products.
- Performance Metrics Overlay may hang if enabled when cycling display power off and on.
- Trimming videos may fail to create a thumbnail if the video contains non-English characters.
- 3×1 display configurations may experience instability during Eyefinity creation or during gaming.
- The “Reset” function in Radeon Settings for Display, ReLive, and Video may not work as intended when using Radeon Settings in certain regional languages.
- Radeon WattMan may intermittently fail to load profiles for Radeon RX Vega on the global Radeon Wattman page.
- Rise of the Tomb Raider™ may experience an intermittent application hang during gameplay.
- A random system hang may be experienced after extended periods of use on system configurations using 12 GPU’s for compute workloads.
- The GPU Workload feature may cause a system hang when switching to Compute while AMD CrossFire is enabled. A workaround is to disable AMD CrossFire before switching the toggle to Compute workloads.
