KB5034441 et Windows 10, Microsoft ne corrigera pas l’erreur 0x80070643

Comment résoudre le problème ?

Si vous êtes victimes d’une erreur 0x80070643 suite à l’installation de la mise à jour Windows 10 KB5034441, une mauvaise nouvelle est au rendez-vous. Microsoft ne corrigera pas le problème.

Il est apparu en janvier dernier suite à la publication des mises à jour cumulatives Windows 10 et 11 du premier Patch Tuesday de l’année. Comme nous l’avons indiqué il est associé en particulier à KB5034441 et plus particulièrement à son installation. Le processus se solde par l’affichage d’un message indiquant l’échec de l’installation. Le bug affecte Windows 11 21H2, Windows 10 v22H2, Windows 10 21H2 et Windows Server 2022.

Rapidement Microsoft a reconnu le problème en promettant une enquête afin de développer un correctif. La firme a expliqué que la mise à jour corrigeait une faille de sécurité associée à l’environnement de récupération Windows (WinRE). Elle permettait de contourner le chiffrement BitLocker à l’aide de WinRE. La mise à jour s’est donc attaquée à cette situation « critique » mais en demandant, pour son installation, une certaine taille à la partition de récupération. Les environnements ne répondant pas à cette contrainte se sont retrouvés devant l’erreur 0x80070643. Pour information la partition WinRE nécessite 250 mégaoctets d’espace libre pour installer la mise à jour. Microsoft n’a pas mis en pause le déploiement en raison de la nature critique du correctif ce qui a engendré de plus en plus d’erreurs 0x80070643.

Microsoft revient sur le sujet après quatre mois d’attente d’un correctif.  Le problème ne peut pas être réparé. Une page d’assistance de son site Web indique qu’une correction automatique de l’erreur 0x80070643 ( KB5034441) ne sera pas proposée au travers d’une  future mise à jour Windows. En clair le problème ne sera pas corrigé. Microsoft explique que les utilisateurs devront le résoudre manuellement.

Pour ce faire des instructions sont proposées afin d’augmenter la taille de la partition WinRE. L’opération est délicate et demande de la patience. Il faut procéder étape par étape en ayant au préalable fait une sauvegarde de ses données. Le mieux est de procéder à un clonage du disque système. En cas de défaillance grave il est plus simple et rapide de retrouver son environnement de travail ou de jeu avec ses réglages, ses logiciels et toutes ses données.

Il est certains de que de nombreux utilisateurs ne seront pas à l’aise avec cette méthode manuelle. Microsoft a donc fourni un codescript .

  • Ce n'est pas à copier coller dans Powershell, c'est à copier coller dans "bloc note" et à enregistrer sous un fichier .ps1

    L'application de ce script fait bien disparaitre le message d'erreur.
