Windows 10 s’accompagne de nouveautés mais il a perdu certaines fonctionnalités face à d’autres versions de Windows en particulier avec l’abandon du Windows Media Center. La firme propose une application pour lire les DVD sur sa boutique en ligne, Windows DVD Player. Payante pour certains, elle souffre de problèmes sous Windows 10.
L’application Windows DVD Player n’est pas une solution capable de remplacer le Windows Media Player. Il s’agit d’un simple lecteur de DVD et si la politique de la proposer de manière payante pour certains est discutable, elle souffre en plus de problèmes sous Windows 10.
Dans une intervention sur ses forums communautaires, Microsoft reconnait que des utilisateurs rencontrent des soucis avec Windows DVD Player. Selon l’ingénieur Ellen Kilbourne , les problèmes sont connus et des correctifs sont en préparation. Il souligne à ce sujet
«Nous sommes conscients qu’un certain nombre de personnes utilisant l’application Windows DVD Player ont rencontré des problèmes. Je tiens à vous assurer que nous travaillons activement pour régler ces soucis au travers de correctifs. »
En attendant sa publication, quelques solutions sont données pour résoudre certains dysfonctionnements du logiciel.
- Vidéo saccadée ou impossible à lire > L’installation de nouveaux drivers vidéo peut être une solution.
- Lecture à la suite d’un second DVD ne fonctionne pas > La fermeture et la réouverture de l’application peut être une solution.
- Le lecteur ne détecte pas qu’un DVD a été inséré > Cela peut être corrigé par la fermeture de l’application, l’insertion du DVD puis la réouverture de l’application
- Le lecteur ne lit pas les fichiers audio à l’aide du Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 > Certains utilisateurs peuvent régler le problème en obtenant la dernière mise à jour à partir de Windows Update.
- Le lecture d’un DVD sur un deuxième écran via de l’HDMI échoue > Il n’y a pas de solution pour le moment.

Windows DVD Player - problème/solution
The video is stuttering or failing to play. Many people can fix this issue by installing the latest graphics drivers (AMD, Intel, Nvidia). We are continuing to investigate and fix other causes of this problem.
When changing from one DVD to another, Windows DVD Player will not play the new DVD. This can be fixed by closing and re-opening the Windows DVD Player app.
Windows DVD Player does not detect that a disk was inserted. This can be fixed by closing Windows DVD Player, inserting the DVD into your DVD drive, and then re-opening the Windows DVD Player app.
Inserting a DVD opens the Windows Store. If inserting a DVD opens the Windows Store, rather than launching the DVD player, you may need to update your program defaults. To do so:
Open the Start menu, search for “DVD” and select the result labeled “Autoplay” under Settings.
You should see four DVD entries in the AutoPlay Control Panel, including “DVD movie”, “Enhanced DVD movie”, and “DVD-Audio.” Set the default for each of these items to “Play DVD (Windows DVD Player)” under the drop down menu for each entry.
The Windows DVD Player app should now automatically launch when a disc is inserted.
Windows DVD Player will not play audio using Dolby Digital Plus 5.1. Some users may see this fixed by getting the latest from Windows Update. We are continuing to look at other cases where that may not be sufficient.
Playing a DVD to a second screen using HDMI sometimes fails. There is no workaround for this right now, but we are continuing to investigate it.
